Britplas teamed up with VolkerFitzpatrick (VFP) in a competitive tender to win the project together, developing a competitive full envelope proposal. One of the main issues to contend with was the unusual location of the building almost on the very top of a hill which creates orographic wind conditions.

The early involvement of the Britplas design team helped the preconstruction team with complex calculations proving that we could actually use fairly standard curtain wall profiles instead of the larger profiles our standard wind load calculator recommended.
This allowed us to offer a more commercially viable solution to the client and helped us secure the contract, which was successfully completed in 2020.

As part of the full envelope package, Britplas also delivered fire-rated curtain walling to sections of the building requiring enhanced fire compartmentation, demonstrating our capability to integrate fire-rated glazing seamlessly within a wider architectural façade.
