Project Details
Britplas refurbished the external courtyards of the Hadrian Unit at the Carleton Clinic, Carlisle whilst the facility was still in use, installing timber fencing and Fortress Climb Guard as per industry standards.
From an early design stage Britplas worked closely with both Cumbria Partnership Trust and Johnston and Wright Architects, creating a collaborative process. Acoustically sound timber fencing with specially designed brackets and infills was selected to best suit the space and compliment the installation of the Fortress Climb Guard system and anti-ligature downpipe covers, limiting absconsion opportunities
Poor access meant that all materials had to be carried through the building to reach the secure garden area; Britplas split the affected corridors to keep the building accessible and secure for residents whilst work was ongoing.
At the behest of the Trust a pedestrian gate was installed with the same anti-ligature principles and appearance as the fence.
