Cale Cross House is one of the tallest buildings in Newcastle on the Tyne Bridge providing city centre apartments requiring the highest levels of health and safety for residents’ peace of mind and their overall safety.

The building’s complete re-glazing and recladding were undertaken to enhance its prominence on the Newcastle skyline. Britplas designed and installed the new façade, ensuring full compliance with the latest Building Safety Act and all relevant industry standards.
The building’s complete re-glazing and recladding were undertaken to enhance its prominence on the Newcastle skyline. Britplas designed and installed the new façade following the contractor completely removing the old façade back to the concrete frame.
Britplas completed the installation of the aluminium cladding, cavity barriers, cladding panels and windows to refurbish the 18-story existing building, which was repurposed for apartments and commercial space. The cladding and window design focused on ensuring compliance with the latest regulations. Key challenges included installing a new façade onto the existing concrete structure while accommodating the ventilation strategy and integrating the enclosed plant room on the top floor. The cladding used was Baileys Synergy hook-on system, designed to replicate the appearance of the existing columns with a central joint. The window system installed was the Kawneer AA720, consisting of fixed lights and side-hung, multipoint-locking windows, restricted to a 100mm opening.
