The facade of the IMS-Tetsuya Nakamura Building which was recently completed by Britplas has been shortlisted in the Schüco Excellence Awards for Design and Innovation, run in association with Architecture Today.
The striking building is the new home for the Institute of Developmental & Regenerative Medicine in Oxford. To reflect the University’s sustainability philosophy, the building was designed and constructed using Passivhaus design principles.
With very precise requirements around air leakage level and U value performance, balancing these considerations with those of buildability and budgetary constraints was one of the key challenges of this project.
