24 x Safevent Horizontal Windows
Britplas supplied Safevent® windows to the new mental health rehabilitation centre at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Adelaide, working with Hindmarsh and Cheeseman Architects.
The 24-bed, two-level facility opened in September 2025. It is the first of three new specialist rehabilitation units in South Australia, supporting up to 100 people a year.
Cheeseman’s specification called for a therapeutic setting that promotes independence, designed to give people the time, space and therapeutic
environment they need for recovery.
The Safevent® window carries that independence into all 24 of the centre’s bedrooms. The Safevent®, and more specifically the Multask® handle, gives the service users the freedom to open and close their window as much as they want, whenever they want. The same handle includes a staff lock, should intervention be necessary at any point.
Britplas are proud to have contributed to a space grounded in person-centred care that supports autonomy, dignity and healing at every stage of recovery.
