Britplas invented the original secure sliding window, the Safevent, in 2006. It remains an industry benchmark today and is continually refined by our in-house Research & Development team, with that same innovation extending into other secure product categories, such as our Fortress Fencing.
Standard systems don’t always fit the brief. When a project demands something specific, our technical and design teams get involved from the outset to make sure what’s specified is genuinely fit for purpose.
Much of our product development has come directly from these early conversations: a client need that nothing on the market could meet, so we engineered the answer ourselves.
Our façades team work closely with architects and main contractors, either with a consultancy-led approach at tender stage or by undertaking full PCSAs to help realise a concept by providing cost-effective solutions and technical back-up.
That early input helps hold onto the original design intent while improving budgets and lead times, or contributing towards credentials like Passivhaus – work that has contributed to multiple industry awards, such as those awarded to The Welcome Building in Bristol.
Our depth of technical knowledge enables us to identify opportunities to improve buildability that aren’t always obvious at design stage. This thinking has led to a proprietary balustrade solution developed for the Eliza Yard & Jersey Wharf project in Manchester, since specified on three further projects. The result is a growing library of proven and tested approaches we can bring to future projects.

Britplas Fire is led by Andy Vooght – Head of Fire Glazing. Andy has over 20 years experience in construction and fire safety, and has specialised exclusively in fire resistant glazing since 2019. That specialism has given him a rare depth of understanding of fire resistant glazing products, regulations, certification and testing standards that govern where and how they can legitimately be used.
