Project Details

First mooted back in 2014, the Wonford PICU was born out of necessity, with over 100 people a year being sent out of Devon for PICU services. The £5.5m Junipers facility, as it will be known, will be a state of the art 10 bed unit for both men and women.

Devon’s first PICU was built with the end user in mind, with consultation with both end users and their families carried out by architects The Clinal Reference Group at the start of the process.

The Junipers is one of the first facilities which will benefit from our new mental health sills, designed in-house by our dedicated research and development team.

The new sills represent a switch from face drained to bottom drained, thus removing the need for press-in plastic drainage caps and minimising the chance of the drainage channel becoming blocked.
